We understand the difficulties ...

As we get older, it is vital to have regular eye tests to detect eye diseases and improve poor vision to enhance quality of life.

Visiting your local optician if house bound or when living in a residential care home can be quite a challenge. Most optician services currently available to care homes have limited testing equipment, a very small choice of frames and are small in number.

We aim to minimise these difficulties by coming to you, offering all the testing equipment you would expect in a high street optician together with a similar choice of frames.

Our mobile unit is fitted with a hydraulic lift which can be used for walk-in residents and wheelchair users alike. The consulting room has been specially designed so that wheelchair users may remain in their wheelchair throughout the eye examination.

If you are bed bound and cannot use a wheelchair, our optometrist can perform the eye test in your room by using our domiciliary eye testing kit.

For those over 60 the eye test is FREE and, if you are on Income Support or Pension Credit Guarantee, you will also receive help towards the cost of your spectacles.

We offer full aftercare, adjustments and repairs.  We label all spectacles with residents’ names to help with identification and we hand deliver all glasses ourselves.

There is no charge whatsoever to the care home for each visit.
